The Minister of Fisheries and Livestock MAKOZO CHIKOTE has urged livestock players to work together to solve concerns about animal welfare.
Speaking at the Lusaka meeting of the Animal Welfare and Protection Stakeholders, Mr. CHIKOTE asserted that Zambia must soon catch up to international standards for the welfare of animals because they are increasingly vital in international trade.
All interested parties must consider how livestock and companion animals are raised, according to Mr. CHIKOTE.
Additionally, MALCOM CHIYOBA, President of the Veterinary Association of Zambia (VAZ), stated that there is a need to address the issue of the knowledge gap on animal welfare.
