After yesterday’s intense rains in the region of Chifunabuli, Luapula province, at least 81 homes have collapsed.
This occurred in the Mashitolo area, which is Chief CHITEMBO’s territory, according to Lawrence Jaliso, the Chifunabuli District Disaster Management Officer.
According to Mr. JALISO, the most recent collapse brings the total number of houses that have collapsed in the district as a result of heavy rains to 200.
He has clarified that one of the destroyed buildings was Chief Chitembo’s home.
Due to the torrential rains last month, over 130 homes, including the homes of the teachers at Nsombela Primary School, fell.
