According to local media, South Africa’s passenger rail agency (Prasa) has prohibited preaching, gambling, and unauthorized trade in its new trains.
According to agency spokesperson Lilian Mofokeng, the action is one of several steps taken to ensure that “one particular behavioural system of any other group cannot be forced on other riders on board.”
Additionally, it will improve cleaning and passenger safety onboard.
She explained that the goal was to maintain the commuters’ cleanliness and safety while allowing them to move around freely.
Preachers and shady dealers have criticized the new law.
