Babes Wodumo mourning

South Africa was shocked when the news of the untimely passing of Gqom musician and Kwaito legend in their own right, Mandla “Mampintsha” Mamphumula were confirmed on Saturday, 24 December 2022. An untimely passing that was confirmed following the news that a week earlier Mampintsha had suffered a stroke due to undisclosed reasons.

In light of the tragedy, fans wondered how wife and fellow Gqom artist, Bongekile “Babes Wodumo” Maphumulo, formerly, Simelane, was coping. More so considering that she and Mampintsha shared their first and only child together, Sponge, who is still a toddler.

While Afrotainment and DJ Tira spearheaded the social media update campaign, not much was seen nor heard from Babes Wodumo. This is as the star has been off social media for months following her many mishaps and fights with people on social media.

However, now there have been photos that have surfaced of Babes Wodumo mourning the loss of her husband.
The last update that was shared on Babes Wodumo and her state of mind in light of the passing of her husband painted a grave image. This is off the allegations that Babes was distraught as she found out that Mampintsha was late like the rest of us, on social media.

A nurse who was allegedly in Mampintsha’s ward was the one to reveal the matter on social media, which subsequently went viral. Therefore, it was no surprise when the disheartening news that when Mampintsha’s body arrived home, Babes allegedly threw herself on the coffin of her late husband.

However, with all these new reports, no one had actually seen images of Babes Wodumo. But there has now been circulated images of Babes Wodumo in mourning. While there is no clear source as to where the original images were first posted.

In the shared series of images, Babes Wodumo is seen sitting on the mourning mattress with her sister and an unknown family member. Mampintha’s mother is not in the images shared, which might be proof of the contention between the Simelanes and Maphumulos as they have been accused of preventing Mampintsha’s family access.
More than just the images of Babes Wodumo in mourning surfacing. News of Mampintsha’s memorial and funeral service have been revealed. Mampintsha’s funeral and memorial will be hosted by leading Durban based funeral parlour Icebolethu.

As such, official word was shared by the funeral parlour. It confirmed that the memorial service is set to take place on Thursday, 29 December 2022 at the eThekwini Community Church. The funeral is expected to have a higher volume of attendees as this is scheduled to take place on Friday, 30 December 2022 at the Durban International Convention Centre (ICC).

It is currently unconfirmed whether or not both or one of the ceremonies will be able to be streamed or not. This is as with the pandemic slowly being a thing of the past, it is up to the family and friends to decide whether they want to share the memorial and funeral service with the rest of the county who are not in Durban.
