Mzansi spoken word artist, poet, musician, and beadwork designer, Ntsiki Mazwai is notorious for her outspoken personality and controversial opinions. She is often at the centre of social media storms and doesn’t appear to mind. She has once again found herself at the receiving end of backlash after she dragged musician Sjava into Kelly Khumalo’s situation.
Taking to Twitter, Mazwai questioned the fact that Sjava is still being allowed to perform at concerts while Kelly Khumalo was recently cut from a performance.
Earlier this week, Tribute to Women festival organizers announced that they had removed singer Kelly Khumalo from the artist list.
This is because evidence in the Senzo Meyiwa murder trial links her to the footballer’s killers.
The news was largely met with celebration from South Africans who are desperate for justice in the Senzo Meyiwa case.
Ntsiki Mazwai has however come out to question what she apparently thinks is unfair cancel culture.
Taking to Twitter, she asked why Kelly Khumalo was pulled from the show while Sjava who was accused of sexual assault by Lady Zamar is still on the lineup.
“And sjava still on the lineup…” she responded to a statement shared by Tribute to Women festival.

Many headed to the comment section to defend Sjava who they apparently believe is innocent. Many accused her of employing selective outrage.
“When Sjava’s gigs were cancelled a couple of years ago, I don’t remember you tweeting about Kelly Khumalo’s gigs/shows. You become an activist when it suits your agenda.”
“Let’s apply our mind; given the “innocent until proven guilty” context, why would Sjava be excluded?”
In other news – Social media user threatens to kill Kelly Khumalo
Popular South African musician Kelly Khumalo has been responding to backlash from angry social media users, including a tweet from a troll who is threatening to shoot her. The Ngathwala Ngaye singer took to her Twitter on Thursday, 3 August, to share her gig guide after being removed from yet another event this week.
Kelly shared that she will be performing at the Rusty Rocks ‘All For Women’ concert on 12 August, arrogantly adding that whoever has a problem with that should vomit. Read More
