Costs for meals may continue to decline – FRA

The Food Reserve Agency (FRA) predicts that as it distributes additional maize to Millers, the price of mealie meal will gradually start to drop even further.

According to FRA Acting Executive Director MWANSA CHAMATETE, the agency has so far supplied millers across the nation roughly 130 thousand metric tonnes of maize for a cost of 520 million kwacha.

According to Mr. CHAMATETE, the price may continue to decline with sustained communication with millers.

In an interview with ZNBC News in Lusaka, he stated this.

And Mr. CHAMATETE said that the Agency had paid 36 million Kwacha to sell over 9,000 metric tons of corn to the Disaster Management and Mitigation Unit (DMMU).

He claimed that in order to help some of the flood victims, the agency gave the DMMU access to 50,000 metric tonnes of maize.

According to Mr. CHAMATETE, the corn sold to DMMU has benefited seven provinces in this way.
