Due to decreased electricity generation in the nation, the government has limited electricity exports.
PETER KAPALA, the energy minister, acknowledged this while also stating that the government would not fully ban exports.
According to Mr. KAPALA, this is being done to preserve the current power markets, according to an interview with ZANIS.
The Minister claimed that ZESCO is now operating with limited funds, with certain electricity exports serving to cushion its operations.
Mr. KAPALA went on to say that while the government is aware of the disturbance caused by the ongoing load management, it is being cautious to prevent a total shutdown.
The Minister stated that efforts are being made by the government to commission the 150 Megawatt fifth generating unit at the Kafue Gorge Lower Hydro Power Station and the 135 Megawatt Ndola Energy Power Plant in the Copperbelt.
