Headless, lifeless stillborn baby’s body found

Along a sewage system in Ndola’s Mushili township, the body of a decapitated stillborn baby was discovered.

Timothy Jere, who was disturbed by the sound of dogs barking furiously around 6:00 in the morning, found the stillborn.

Mr. Jere was startled by the barking and hurried outdoors to find the dogs fighting over the stillborn child’s bones.

Then, he succeeded in chasing the dogs while being alert, and he called the police.

According to Copperbelt police commanding officer Peacewell Mweemba, the event happened early on Thursday in the township of New Mushili.

“Brief facts of the matter are that on April,13th, 2023 around 06:00 hours whilst inside the house,the reporter (Mr Jere) heard some dogs barking outside the house and thought that some criminals had invaded the area to steal metal poles.He immediately rushed outside the house and found the dogs fighting over a decomposed still born which was headless,” he said.

Mr Mweemba said that the reporter (Mr Jere) then chased the dogs and secured the scene and reported the matter at Mushili Police Post.

“Police immediately rushed to the the scene and confirmed the report and managed to organize transport and together with the public health personnel from Ndola city council buried it at Kantolomba cemetry , while an inquiry file has been opened and no arrest has been made,” he said.
