HH Lands In Namibia

For the one-day SADC Troika Summit, President Hakainde Hichilema has arrived in Windhoek, Namibia.

At around 9:20 a.m., the aircraft carrying President Hichilema landed at Windhoek’s HOSEA KUTAKO International Airport.

THOMAS AWENDO, the Namibian Minister for Mines and Energy, and STEVEN KATUKA, the High Commissioner of Zambia to Namibia, greeted President HICHILEMA.

 

STANLEY KAKUBO, the minister of foreign affairs, and JACK MWIIMBU, the minister of home affairs and internal security, were also present to greet the president.

Others include prominent political, defense, and security officials from Zambia as well as COLIN BARRY, commander of the Zambian Air Force.

Four Heads of State are present at the SADC Troika Summit on Defense and Security, including President HICHILEMA.

Mr. HICHILEMA will serve alongside South African President CYRIL RAMAPHOSA, the outgoing Chairperson of the organ on defense and security, and Namibian President HAGE GEINGOB, who is also the Chairperson of the SADC Troika.

FELIX TSHISEKEDI, the president of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, is an observer at the summit as well.

Originally set for November 2022, the Troika Summit will now take place on January 31, 2023.
