In 2022, 320,000 Children Missed Vaccinations

In 2022, almost 320,000 children in Zambia failed to receive the recommended first vaccinations.

According to JACOB SAKALA, manager of the Ministry of Health’s Expanded Immunization Programme, this is the largest number of youngsters who have skipped vaccinations since the Covid 19 pandemic.

According to Dr. SAKALA, big cities have the highest rate of those who failed to have a routine immunization last year.

Dr. SAKALA was speaking at a press conference for World Immunization Week and the UNICEF-published State of the World’s Children Report.

According to the State of the World’s Children’s 2023 immunization report, 67 million children worldwide missed one or more vaccinations between 2019 and 2023, according to UNICEF Zambia Country Director PENELOPE Campbell.
