Junior Athletics Championship in Africa Relocated to Levy Stadium

The Levy Mwanawasa stadium on the Copperbelt has been chosen to host the Confederation of African Athletics Junior Championships, which were originally scheduled to take place in Lusaka.

The development has been confirmed by ELVIS NKANDU, Minister of Youth Sports and Arts.

According to NKANDU, modifications to the venues have been made as a result of the delays in the start of construction at the National Heroes stadium and the OYDC-Zambia running tracks.

The competition will take place from April 29 until May 4, 2023.

Moreover, Athletics National Team Coach DOUGLAS KALEMBO claims that the change in venues will not have an impact on the team’s training.

It will be simple for athletes to train and get ready for the Championship, according to KALEMBO, who claims that the stadium was utilized for the All Comers Meet competition.

In addition, he emphasized that because they had not had enough time to prepare, the athletes should try to use the event’s hosting to hone their abilities.
