Kabuswe: More Mining Exploration Is Needed

Zambia is underexplored, according to mines minister PAUL KABUSWE, who claims the government wants to enhance mining investments.

According to Mr. KABUSWE, his Ministry has already presented the President with information on regions that need to be investigated in order to advance the government’s goal of raising annual copper production to 3 million tons within the next ten years.

He claims that his Ministry has also granted a number of permits that were obtained illegally, a move that will encourage exploratory investments.

According to the minister, without debt restructuring, Zambia’s balance sheet does not allow for the country to conduct exploration on its own.

At the present 2023 Investing in African Mining Indaba in Cape Town, Mr. KABUSWE claims he is talking to a variety of investors in an effort to forge important relationships.
