Kitwe Man dies Holding Inhaler at side of Road

A KITWE wife was traumatized when she discovered her husband lying dead and holding his inhaler next to a bus stop.

Christopher Musonda, 49, is thought to have had a severe cough for the past four days as a result of his asthma.

He did, however, have a cold yesterday while going to church.

According to Copperbelt commanding officer Peacewell Mweemba, the incident happened in Kitwe’s Kapoto market area yesterday between 20:30 and 21:30.

He claimed that the 50-year-old wife, Maureen Musonda, stated that her husband had been discovered dead in Kapoto Market around 21:30.

“Brief facts are that the now deceased for the past four days was experiencing a bad cough due to the fact that he was asthmatic and on Wednesday January 4th at around 15:30 hours he left home for church and at 20:00 hours he called the wife that he was feeling cold and he needed his winter coat. They agreed to meet at Kapoto Market bus stop. When she reached the market she tried to call the husband but his phone went unanswered and she decided to go back home thinking he could have already reached home,” he said.

Mr Mweemba said however, that the deceased’s wife found that he was not yet home.

“She tried to reach the husband on his phone ,but the line was not going through and so she decided to go back to the market. She later found him lying dead facing upward about five meters away from the road next to a booth at Kapoto market near the bus stop at around 21:30 hours. Police were informed and rushed to the scene where the body was found lying facing upward while holding an inhaler for ashimatic patient on his right hand and when the body was inspected and no physical injuries noticed. The body was picked and taken to Kitwe Teaching Hospital. No foul play suspected,” he said.
