Lusaka husband kills himself after arguing with wife about money

Police in Lusaka are looking into the case of a 37-year-old man from the John Howard compound who allegedly hanged himself after arguing with his wife about the pay he did not take home.

Ronald Kavuma, a resident of the John Howard property, was identified by Deputy Police Public Relations Officer Danny Mwale as the deceased.

The cable suspected to have been used to hang himself was still looped around his neck, according to Mr. Mwale, who claimed that when police arrived on the site they saw the body laying on the ground.

He claimed that the body was afterwards brought to the mortuary of the University Teaching Hospital (UTH) to await an autopsy.

“The incident happened yesterday around 12:00 hours in Lusaka’s John Howard compound. Police investigations indicate that the deceased hanged himself after a quarrel with his wife over the salary he never took home,”he said.

While everything was going on, a 17-year-old boy committed after arguing with his grandmother about not going to the cornfield with other family members.

According to Mr. Mwale, the young man from the Kachesa neighborhood in the Kafue District hanged himself to death.

He claimed that the incident occurred yesterday at around 0:00.

“The deceased was reprimanded for not going to work in the maize field with other family members and this did not go well with him and he was heard saying that he will kill himself. The body has been deposited in Kafue district hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem and burial,”said Mr Mwale.
