Mokambo Border Operations Normalise

357

Following demonstrations by certain citizens of the Democratic Republic of the Congo that shut down operations on both the Zambian and Congolese sides, traffic has resumed flowing at the Mokambo Border in Mufulira.

This came about after JOHN KAYOMBO, a suspected criminal and citizen of the Congo, was shot and killed by the anti-robbery squad for reportedly committing numerous crimes in Zambia, including car theft.

AUGUSTINE KASONGO, the Copperbelt Permanent Secretary, visited the border and expressed his happiness that things are going well and that security is under control.

And ALLAN MUKUKA, the immigration officer in charge at the Mokambo Border, raised alarm over the absence of infrastructure there, which he claimed poses a security risk.

Police will be on alert today while the Congolese bury the deceased KAYOMBO, the Zambian police officer in command at the Mokambo Border, YAMBA MAIMBOLWA, assured the Permanent Secretary.
