Many homes in Kitwe’s Old Kawama neighborhood have been inundated by rainwater.
Residents in the area claim that inadequate drainage is to blame for the flooding.
They have pleaded with the government to expedite drainage repairs and food help because their products have been harmed.
As opposed to using the council to work on the drainage, Chimwemwe Member of Parliament ALLAN BANDA claims that his office has written to Local Government Minister GARY NKOMBO to request permission to do so.
According to Mr. BANDA, the Council was first given permission to address the issue, but was unable to do so because of faulty equipment.
He claims that it has taken the people working on the Council Machines a long time to fix the issue, necessitating the search for a different contractor to handle the issue.
According to Mr. BANDA, his office would collaborate with the government to offer the residents of Kawama a long-term solution.
