The goal of the 2023 Food Summit, which will begin tomorrow in Dakar, Senegal, is to mobilize funding and investment in agriculture to support food security in Africa.

Several heads of state and government, including President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA, are anticipated to attend the high-level Africa Food conference, which will also emphasize igniting political interest and revolutionizing the agriculture industry.

Prior to the two-day Summit, which has been organized by the African Development Bank and the International Fund for Agricultural Research, the President is scheduled to arrive at 18:00 local time.

Zambia is one of the African nations seeking to adopt Food Compacts in agriculture to improve food security on the continent.

Zambia is anticipated to highlight its comparative advantage and its standing in satisfying the Agricultural production Food Compact requirements for the area and the continent at the Dakar 2 Summit.

A group of specialists and government representatives who have already arrived in Dakar for the Summit are being led by the Agriculture Minister REUBEN MTOLO and his counterpart at Livestock MAKOZO CHIKOTE.

Zambia, according to Mr. MTOLO, intends to use the high-level summit to encourage technological investment for Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises in Agriculture to achieve the value chain targets.
