Pharmacist charged with theft of K100,000

In court is a PHARMACIST accused of stealing more than K100,000 and hundreds of dollars in cash.

Avondale resident Evans Bwalya, 35, is charged with 10 counts of theft by servant.

It is alleged that on February 20, 2020, Bwalya, an executive director for Chirundu Pharmacy Limited, took K7, 974 in cash, which belonged to his employer.

According to the second complaint, the defendant is accused of stealing K15, 454 on May 4 of the same year.

The third count alleges that Bwalya once more took K20, 541 in cash on May 8, 2020.

According to the fourth allegation, Bwalya is accused of stealing K6, 240 from his employer on May 19 of the same year.

According to count five, on July 17 of this year, the accused allegedly took K 51,943 from his employer.

 

In the sixth count, it is claimed that the defendant took K 8, 800 in cash from his employer six days later.

 

According to count seven, he allegedly stole US$105. 20 again five days later.

 

The eighth count further makes the claim that the accused took K 4, 585 in cash on September 16, 2020.

According to the ninth count, Bwalya is accused of stealing K 538 on September 28, 2020.

He is charged with taking $562.40 in cash on October 14 in the most recent count.

The accused entered a not guilty plea when the case was heard yesterday before Lusaka magistrate Idah Phiri, and the trial will begin on January 11.
