A 35-year-old Zimbabwean was attacked in the Danger Hill neighborhood of Mpika, and SIXTEEN persons have been detained in connection with the incident.
The accused were apprehended during a police operation to identify and apprehend the culprits.
A few days earlier, while Brighton Rangarirai was traveling from Nakonde back to his home country, he was ambushed while passing through the Mpika neighborhood of Danger Hill, where thugs had blocked the road.
He had to get out of his car and run to get aid because he feared for his life when the alleged culprits saw the victim coming and started throwing stones at his car.
The suspects raided the victim’s car after the victim had been attacked with stones, stole everything he had purchased from Nakonde, and fled.
16 persons have been detained in connection with the attack and theft, according to Muchinga Provincial commanding officer Kaunda Mubanga.
“Mpika Police Station carried an operation at Danger Hill Area and managed to apprehend 16 suspects.Three male persons were found with three new pair of jean trousers and a laptop bag believed to have been stolen from the victim,” he said.
Mr Mubanga added that the suspects are detained to help the Police with Investigations.
