Price waterhouse Coopers director Tonderai in High Court for murder trial

Tonderai Luwisi, a director at PRICEwaterhouseCoopers (PwC), has been committed to the Lusaka High Court for trial in a case in which he is accused of fatally stabbing his wife after a fight.

An accountant for Jesmondine named Luwisi, 44, is accused of murder, a crime with the death penalty.

On December 10, 2022, Luwisi is accused of killing Palegia Muregwi, who was 38 years old.

The accused made an appearance before Lusaka Magistrate Faides Hamaundu yesterday to request a clarification of the accusation.

After the charge was read, state attorney Victor Choongo delivered a certificate to commit the defendant to the High Court for trial on behalf of the Director of Public Prosecutions.

The accused, who looks defeated, was informed by Magistrate Hamaundu that he will now appear before the High Court.

Luwisi was detained two months ago in relation to the killing of his wife.

The couple’s 17-year-old son, according to police, reported the alleged murder to them.

Luwisi was allegedly engaged in a car accident on Thabo Mbeki Road, close to the PwC headquarters, around the time the suspected murder was reported.

When detectives arrived on the scene, they discovered the victim lying on the ground with severe neck injuries.

The act allegedly occurred on December 10, 2022, between 18:00 and 18:30 in the Jesmondine residential area, and it is thought that a sharp object was utilized.

The suspected murder, according to further investigations, occurred when the couple’s son was dispatched to the mall, leaving the accused and his wife at home with their 12-year-old daughter.
