Qatari investment in nation encouraged by President Hichilema

Deputy Prime Minister of Qatar, H.E. Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani, and President Hakainde Hichilema have had private conversations in which increasing investment was a topic.

The President urged the government of Qatar to make sure that Qatari investment in Zambia is promoted.

As the nation advances through a thriving private sector, he claimed that encouraging Qatari investment will help create more jobs.

President Hichilema claimed, while speaking in Qatar, where he had traveled to attend the United Nations conference on Least Developed Countries (LCD), that the state of Qatar would not err by bringing investment to Zambia.

“Zambia continues to forge close and lasting relations with the State of Qatar. On the margins of LDC5 this morning, we had a bilateral meeting with Qatari Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, His Excellency Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani. Through him, we encouraged Qatari investment in Zambia as we push for more jobs through a thriving private sector,” he said.

He said also discussed the impending opening of a resident Zambian Embassy in Doha, that will enhance cooperation in various areas of development and consolidate strong ties between our two nations.

Mr Hichilema further thanked Qatar for choosing Zambia as one of the destinations for its airline as this will enhance tourism.

“We also commended the State of Qatar and its people for successfully hosting the 2022 FIFA World Cup which was one of the most exciting we have watched in recent times .
