Cholera and other epidemic supplies have been distributed across the entire nation by the Zambia Medicines and Medical Supplies Agency.

This is being done, according to PATRICIA NDULINGA, the ZMMSA’s public relations manager, in an effort to address the cholera outbreak in the districts of Mwansabombwe,Vubwi, Chilenge, Chipata, and Chipangali.

In an interview with ZNBC news, Ms. NDULINGA stated that the organization has also sent cholera kits and chlorine for disinfection to the districts of Mwansabombwe and Vubwi via the regional hubs.

She added that the organization has also acquired locally and is in the process of distributing intravenous fluids to other healthcare facilities in order to control the outbreak properly.

According to Ms. NDULINGA, the agency has implemented processes and plans for the response to the management of cholera in the province of Lusaka.

She explained that this is done by making sure that, in the event that the province records any occurrences of the disease, medical supplies are prepared and made available at health facilities.

According to Ms. NDULINGA, the agency is dedicated to making sure that all public health facilities have access to the essential life-saving health commodities as quickly as possible when they are purchased, delivered, and made available for use.

The procurement process for additional IV fluids and antibiotics used in the treatment of cholera is being carried out by ZAMMSA, she explains.
