South Africa will conduct military exercises with China and Russia

The military of South Africa has stated that combined military exercises with China and Russia will take place off its coast the following month.

The drills will take place in the port city of Durban and Richards Bay for ten days, from February 17 to February 27.

The South African National Defence Force (SANDF) stated that the goal is to exchange operational expertise and experience.

One of the African nations that refrained from taking a side in Russia’s invasion of Ukraine was South Africa. Last month, the nation took over as head of the Brics group of countries, which includes Brazil, Russia, India, and China.

This military exercise will be happening for the second time. The first took place in Cape Town in November 2019.

“This year’s exercise will see over 350 SANDF personnel from various arms of services and divisions participating,” said SANDF.
