The private sector has untapped resources

According to SITUMBEKO MUSOKOTWANE, minister of finance, there are untapped resources for economic growth in the private sector.

According to Dr. MUSOKOTWANE, this is the reason the government has instituted forums like the Public Private Dialogue Forum (PPDF).

The Finance Minister stated that the private sector should take advantage of the supportive policy environment to grow their enterprises in a speech read on his behalf by his Permanent Secretary for Monitoring and Evaluation TREVOR KAUNDA.

The Sensitization Workshop on Leveraging Private Sector Engagement in Implementing the 8th National Development Plan and Achieving the Sustainable Development Goals-official SDG’s opening saw Dr. MUSOKOTWANE make this statement.

Together with the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa, or UNECA, the Workshop was put together.

BEATRICE MUTALI, the United Nations-UN Resident Coordinator, suggested the private sector can provide a solution to the funding issues preventing the implementation of the 8th NDP during a speech at the same event.

This was said in a speech delivered on her behalf by Eunice Kamwendo, director of the subregional office for UNECA.

Chief Executive Officer of the Zambia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ZACCI), Phil Daka, spoke at the same event and urged the private sector to invest in initiatives to reduce poverty across the nation.
