Traffic collision results in deaths of two people On Ndola Kapiri-Mposhi route

Near Luansobe, an accident on the Ndola Kapiri-Mposhi route claimed the lives of TWO individuals.

And a baby who was in the accident survived and was later released from the hospital.

According to police deputy spokesperson Danny Mwale, the Toyata Hilux’s driver was inappropriately overtaking when the collision occurred.

According to him, preliminary investigations show that the collision occurred when the driver of a Toyota Hilux with the license plate AJE 1773, traveling from Ndola to Kapiri-Mposhi, improperly overtook two vehicles and, as a result, collided head-on with a Volvo truck with the license plate BBA 1760, which was traveling from Kapiri-Mposhi to Ndola.

According to Mr. Mwale, after the collision, the Volvo truck lost control and struck a second Volvo truck with the license plate AOB 3401 that was being driven by Abraham Mwansa, 38, of Lusaka, as well as a Benz truck with the license plate BCA 9315 that was being driven by Gomani Malala, 56, of Ndola’s Kabushi township.

According to him, the Toyota Hilux’s driver and passenger were declared dead when they arrived at Kapiri-Mposhi District Hospital, while the other passenger, a three-month-old baby, had mild injuries.

According to Mr. Mwale, the driver of the Volvo vehicle with the license plate BBA 1760 also suffered critical wounds.

“The rest of the drivers in the other vehicles escaped without injuries. Bodies of the deceased are in Kapiri-Mposhi District Hospital mortuary awaiting formal identification while the injured victims are admitted to the same hospital where they are receiving treatment. The Toyota Hilux is extensively damaged while other three vehicles suffered damaged fenders and bumpers,” Mr Mwale said.
