TWO girls, ages 12 and 14, were defiled on the Copperbelt in separate occasions.
Since then, police have started a manhunt for the suspects in both cases, who are presently missing.
The first victim, a 12-year-old girl, was raped while she was returning home when the culprit asked her to assist him with carrying oranges before luring her into a thicket.
In the second instance, her mother’s flatmate defiled the victim by luring her into his apartment and abusing her on his sofa.
According to Copperbelt Police Commanding Officer Peacewell Mweemba, who confirmed both incidences, the 12-year-old was defiled on Tuesday at 18:00 in the Kasompe neighborhood of Chingola.
Brief facts are that the victim was walking alone along the road within Airport area when she met a male person who asked her to assist him carry oranges.The man then took advantage and dragged her in the nearby bush and defiled her. She did not inform her parents on that day until yesterday, January 18 when she informed her father of what transpired to her the previous day,” he said.
In relation to the second incident, Mr. Mweemba claimed that it took place last week on Saturday at around 16:00 in the Lubuto neighborhood of Ndola.
He said that the victim’s mother had reported the incident, in which her flatmate Simon Bwalya had violated her daughter.
Brief facts are that on Saturday, January 14, at around 16:00 hours the complainant was inside her house, whilst the victim was washing clothes outside, when she suddenly heard her daughter crying. When she went outside, she discovered that the voice of her crying daughter was coming from the neighbour’s house. This prompted her to rush there and entered the sitting room. She found the accused person having carnal knowledge with her child who is a minor on the sofas,” he said.
