Using Private Sector To Unlock Agriculture’s Potential-HH

Government ties with the business sector are being strengthened, according to President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA, to increase agricultural productivity.

According to President HICHILEMA, the government is especially incorporating private commercial wheat growers in activities aimed at promoting the crop’s cultivation in the nation.

The President claims that as part of its commitment to boosting the crop’s yield in Zambia, the government has included three wheat farmers from Mkushi on the group that is traveling to Senegal for the Dakar 2 Summit.

At the ongoing Dakar 2 Summit in Senegal, President HICHILEMA spoke about his country’s vision for expansion in agriculture, regional integration, and PPPs.

He also expressed concern that some regions of Africa still endure hunger despite the continent being blessed with plenty of water and arable land.

Food security, according to the president, must be achieved in order to sustain political peace on the continent.

According to him, Zambia is supporting the adoption of appropriate technologies and genetic makeup to support high agricultural production.
