Zambia Airways Will Operate Regionally

Regional service is anticipated to begin with Zambia Airways by the end of March 2023.

After the airline obtained the foreign operator permit, this happened.

President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA was thanked by Zambia Airways Chief Executive Officer Abiy Asrat Jiru for helping the National Carrier obtain the long-awaited permission.

Mr. JIRU claims that despite the airline’s declaration in July of last year that it would begin regional flights, there were delays in obtaining the Foreign Operator Permit, which is necessary for the launch of regional operations.

He claimed that after learning about the delays, President Hichilema intervened to support the airline by speaking with his regional counterparts.

When Mr. Jiru paid a courtesy call on Mr. Trevor Sichombo, Charge d’ Affaires of the Zambian Embassy, he was giving a speech in Addis Abeba, Ethiopia.

And Mr. Sichombo noted that the airline sector is a significant contributor to economic growth in many nations since it makes it easier for people and things to move around.

That’s what the First Secretary for Press and Tourism at the Zambian Mission in Addis Abeba, Ethiopia, INUTU MWANZA, said in a statement provided to ZNBC News.
