The names of new officer recruits and cadets have not been disclosed, contrary to social media assertions made by the Zambian Army.
The Army has subsequently issued a warning that anyone spreading the incorrect information will be found and prosecuted.
Colonel Martin Kalaluka, a spokesman for the army, stated that the selection process is still underway and that only the Times of Zambia and Daily Mail Newspapers will be used for official publication of the names of successful candidates.
He claimed that rumors spreading on social media about the identities of recruits and cadets were untrue.
“The selection process is still ongoing and the names of successful candidates will only be officially published in the Zambia Daily Mail and Times of Zambia at an appropriate time while training for both Officers and Soldiers has been earmarked to commence next year. Those circulating false information are therefore warned to stop forthwith failure to which they will be traced and brought to book. perpetrators of such false Information that investigations have advanced and will soon bring to book those involved,” he said.
