Zctu Requests That Mps Back The Napsa Amendment Bill

When the government brings the NAPSA Amendment bill to Parliament, the Zambia Congress of Trade Unions (ZCTU) has encouraged lawmakers to support it in order to provide for partial access to workers’ retirement benefits.

The decision by Cabinet to adopt the measure, according to ZCTU President Blake Mulala, is progressive because workers strongly accept the law’s provision allowing limited access to retirement benefits.

According to Mr. MULALA, the government’s determination to carry out all campaign commitments made by the ruling UPND while in opposition is shown by the Cabinet’s consent.

In an interview with ZNBC News in Lusaka, Mr. MULALA stated that it is now up to Parliament to pass the measure in order to make the partial access a reality.

In order to make judgments that are well-informed, he has urged lawmakers to invite as many stakeholders as possible to share their opinions during parliamentary scrutiny.

When the partial withdrawal is implemented, Mr. MULALA has advised employees to be responsible and invest the money they will have access to.

The National Pension System Amendment Bill 2023 was one of six laws that the cabinet cleared for presentation into the legislature on Saturday, according to information minister CHUSHI KASANDA.
