Maid in court for allegedly stealing from her employer’s “kitchen.”

A maid from Lilayi, Lusaka, is appearing in court to defend herself against accusations that she cleaned out her employer’s kitchen of a variety of food, including birds, beef, spaghetti, bottles of Fanta, peanut butter, and sugar.

21-year-old Natalia Mwamba is accused of stealing more than K1,400.

On the eve of Valentine’s Day, it is said that Mwamba took five 500 gram bags of brown sugar, two bottles of hand soap, five packages of noodles, and one 500 gram block of butter.

In addition, she stole four 300 milliliter bottles of Fanta and three kilograms of meat, two chickens, peanut butter, 2.5 liters of cooking oil, and two Dettol bath soap bars.

All of her employer Leonard Kalinde’s properties are valued at K1, 480.

The accused is due to enter a plea in the case before the Lusaka Magistrate’s Court.
