An agreement between Zambia and Japan calls for an additional 17 million dollar donation to help upgrade some of the health centers on the Copperbelt.
With this addition, the grant for the project will have a total value of 42 million US dollars.
Early in 2020, JAPAN gave ZAMBIA a sum of money equal to about $25 million USD.
Also, the government will install equipment at health centers in the townships of Chamboli and Mushili, according to Finance Minister SITUMBEKO MUSOKOTWANE.
At the exchange of notes on Japan’s grant help, Dr. MUSOKOTWANE mentioned this today in Lusaka.
The project, according to TAKEUCHI KAZUYUKI, the Japanese ambassador to Zambia, intends to improve the country’s healthcare infrastructure and provide the government more tools to combat contagious diseases.
As the project is finished, the people of Ndola and Kitwe will immediately benefit from the upgrades made to the chosen medical institutions, according to Mr. TAKEUCHI.
The project will help achieve universal health coverage, according to YONEBAYASHI NORIHITO, Chief Representative of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
