Young persons between the ages of 14 and 25 continue to have a high prevalence of HIV cases in North Western Province.
WASHINGWE TAMBATAMBA, the health director for the North Western Province, voiced concern that young people continue to contract HIV despite the many HIV prevention strategies that are available during today’s commemoration of World AIDS Day in Solwezi.
According to Dr. TAMBATAMBA, the bulk of HIV-positive test results were found among adolescents between the ages of 14 and 25.
She added that the majority of those who tested positive have begun receiving treatment and that the province offers sufficient care for those with HIV.
The government, according to North Western Province Minister ROBERT LIHEFU, is dedicated to the fight against HIV.
In a speech that Solwezi District Commissioner TRADESON MULOFWA read on his behalf, Mr. LIHEFU advised the public to be aware of their HIV status.
