A stone strikes an illegal miner, killing him

A Chambishi illegal miner on the Copperbelt province died after being struck by falling stones.

The incident took place yesterday at Chambishi’s NFCA Mine Portal 6.

Truths are Around 10:00 a.m., Brian Lufuma, 40, and other illegal miners, sometimes known as “Bakafuka,” were working at Portal 06 inside the NFCA Mine.

According to a statement from Copperbelt province commanding officer Peacewell Mweemba, Mr. Lufuma was hurt when stones from above fell on him as he was digging in the curve.

He claimed that unnamed companions took him to Chambishi Government Clinic, where he passed away at around 14:00.

Mr. Mweemba claimed that his sister, who had been notified by phone, had hurried to the hospital where she learned of her brother’s passing.

“The sister, Doreen Lufuma 45 reported that her brother died after he was hit by falling stones while doing illegal mining. Police inspected the deceased’s body and noted that he sustained a bruised and swollen face, deep cut on the back of the head, a cut on the left leg and a bleeding nose.

The scene of accident not yet visited as the friends who were with deceased are not yet known to lead the police,” he said.

According to Mr. Mweemba, the deceased’s body has been placed in the mortuary at the Chambishi Government Clinic, and an inquiry file has also been created.
