Batoka-maamba Road Requires Work

Many truckers and motorists that use the Batoka-Maamba road have urged the authorities to fix the deteriorating road as soon as possible.

The National Agricultural Information Services has been informed that certain sections of the road have gotten worse and require immediate care.

Their request follows an incident on Monday where some truck drivers and other drivers were stranded at the Mboole area after coal-laden vehicles became trapped.

Truck driver Patrick SIBANDA, who got stuck in the gridlock and spent the night there, called the Batoka-Maamba road a “death trap” that needs immediate attention.

Other truck drivers and drivers made a request to the authorities to repair the road since it is economically important for them to utilize it to transport coal from the Sinazongwe district, which is used in numerous companies and mines.

Road Development Agency Southern Region Technician THOMAS LUBINDA said the organization was working frantically to get the problematic area fixed right away.
