The implementation of several of the approved projects has been delayed, according to some Constituency Development Fund (CDF) committees in Lusaka.

In a meeting with the Lusaka City Council today, the chairs of the CDF committees emphasized that some of the projects approved for the 2022 CDF have not yet begun.

According to CHILEKWA MUNKONGE, chair of the Kabwata CDF Committee, despite permission, several projects, such the building of classroom blocks at some local schools, have not yet begun.

Additionally, REUBEN NKANDU, the chair of the Chawama CDF Committee, has noted that majority of Lusaka’s constituencies are behind schedule in implementing CDF projects.

However, Local Government Permanent Secretary MAAMBO HAAMAUNDU claims that he recognizes the public’s desire to witness rapid growth in their neighborhoods.

However, Mr. HAMAUNDU claims that because CDF project execution is a process that calls for accountability and transparency, there are occasionally delays.
