Cody Gakpo: PSV Eindhoven And Liverpool Agree To Sign A Forward

According to PSV Eindhoven, Liverpool and the Dutch attacker Cody Gakpo have reached an agreement.

The 23-year-old Gakpo had a strong World Cup in Qatar, scoring three goals and advancing the Netherlands to the quarterfinals.

A price of 40 million to 50 million euros (£35.4 million to £44.3 million) is anticipated for the winger.

Gakpo will visit England to finalize the deal, according to PSV, who also note that it would be a record transfer for them.

With attackers Diogo Jota and Luis Diaz expected to miss significant time, Liverpool has made a move.

Manchester United has received numerous rumors about wanting to sign Gakpo.

According to a statement from the Eredivisie side, “the PSV management concluded the discussions on Boxing Day and granted Gakpo permission to fly to England.”

Gakpo has been in excellent form for PSV this season, contributing 12 assists and nine goals in 14 league appearances.

In five Europa League games, he also managed three goals and two assists.

He scored in each of his nation’s World Cup group matches against Senegal, Ecuador, and Qatar.

In their first game back in the Premier League, Liverpool defeated Aston Villa 3-1 on Monday. Jurgen Klopp’s team is currently sixth in the league.

During the World Cup, the winger’s international teammate and Reds defender Virgil van Dijk praised him highly.

While the competition was taking place in Qatar, Van Dijk commented, “Hopefully Cody can go to the moon and back.” He is a good boy and a really excellent player.

“What you see on the field is exactly what we see in practice. He still has so much potential, and I hope he can continue to demonstrate it for us. We are pleased with him greatly.
