Don’t rely on the Treasury, says Syakalima

The newly appointed university councils have been challenged by the education minister, DOUGLAS SYAKALIMA, to be creative by generating additional revenue streams aside from those that come from Treasury.

According to Mr. SYAKALIMA, higher education institutions would be able to solve issues with high debt and limited infrastructure thanks to increased money.

In Kabwe, Central Province, Mr. SYAKALIMA reportedly spoke at the installation of councilors for eight public universities.

NORIANA MUNEKA, the ministry’s permanent secretary for administration, asked the newly elected councilors to establish strategies for paying off debt at public colleges.

The councilors were admonished by the permanent secretary for technical services, KAMOKO, to use their experience in managing the business of the universities they have been entrusted to administer with firmness, fairness, and vigilance.
