A South African film producer pushed women in Zambia to break down barriers in more fields where men predominate.
CONNIE FERGUSON, however, asserts that AFRICAN women have entered many industries previously dominated by men.
She has also urged women to participate more actively in online activities.
As part of the celebration of International Women’s Day, Mrs. FERGUSON gave a speech last night in LUSAKA at ZANACO’s ZEE Women Aware Ceremony for women who have succeeded in diverse sectors.
At the same event, MUKWANDI CHIBESAKUNDA, the chief executive officer of ZANACO, urged women to increase their visibility online.
In the meantime, a number of women, including ZNBC Chief of Corporate Affairs ANNIE MUKABE, won prizes in several categories.
Ms. MUKABE received a Chief Executive Officer Award, and MIRRIAM MUKAPE, better known as MAMPI, received one for best female artist.
Both children’s neurosurgeon NFWAMA KAWATU and female soccer star BARBARA BANDA received awards for their outstanding work in their respective industries.
