LEMMY KAJOBA, the inspector general of police, is alarmed by the widespread copper thefts on the Copperbelt.
Nine people have been detained by Chingola police in the past month in connection with thefts of copper cathodes.
Additionally, Mr. KAJOBA has instructed the police in the Copperbelt to increase security in the mines and the copper cathode transportation route.
In order to understand the security issues at the mines, Mr. KAJOBA visited China Copper Mine and Konkola Copper Mine while in Chingola.
He warned crooks that the law would come after them and declared that the police would NOT tolerate further copper thefts.
