An energy taskforce has been established by President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA to handle the nation’s pressing energy needs.

The task force will start crisis management efforts and put plans in place to guarantee long-term sufficiency and a surplus of electricity.

It includes, among other important players, the Energy Regulations Board (ERB), ZESCO, the Rural Electrification Authority (REA), and the Ministry of Energy.

Zambians may now look forward to having a diversified power mix because to two gigawatts of investments in solar, wind, and extra hydroelectric electricity, according to JITO KAYUMBA, Special Assistant to the President for Finance and Investments.

The Western Provinces and Luapula are the designated regions, according to Mr. KAYUMBA in an interview with ZNBC news.

According to him, the Kariba dam’s fragility due to reliance on sufficient water levels will be history.
