Lusaka Criminals Steal K1 million from Toyota Mark X

CRIMINALS in Lusaka has gone away with K1 million which was stolen from a Toyota Mark X that was parked along Great East Road belonging to a businessman.

The incident occurred Sunday around 14:30 hours at East Park Mall.

The victim Ken Phiri, a businessman of Yatu Equity is believed to have left the money secured in a laptop bag in the car and when he returned, he found the money stolen.

Police deputy spokesperson Danny Mwale said police have since instituted investigations in the matter.

“Police in Lusaka recieved a report of theft from motor vehicle in which unknown people broke into a Toyota Mark X and stole from therein money amounting to K1, 000,000. The victim alerted Police officers who rushed to the scene. Initial investigations indicated that the passenger door was tempered with using unknown objects,” he said.

Mr Mwale said when interrogated, the victim said he withdrew the money from East Park Mall and secured it in the car.

“He said the money was placed in a laptop bag on the passenger’s seat. Later he walked into a Restaurant after securing the car and when he returned to where he had parked, he observed that the passenger door was tempered with and a laptop bag together with the money missing,” he said.
