Man arrested for incest… Authorities in Chinsali have apprehended a 44-year-old father on suspicion of sexually assaulting his 12-year-old daughter. The arrest follows a report made by the wife of Friday Bwalya, who uncovered the alleged abuse upon her return. The incident occurred on January 19 of this year at Masandiko Village, under the jurisdiction of chief Nkula.
Paul Achiume, the police commanding officer of Muchinga province, disclosed that the victim’s mother had left for a funeral at Chinsali Girls Secondary School compound, entrusting the care of the victim and her younger siblings to their father. The mother remained at the funeral for two days.

“And unfortunately, the same day she left home, her husband took advantage of his firstborn daughter during the night at an unknown time and managed to have carnal knowledge of her in the bedroom where she was sleeping with her siblings,” he said.
Mr Achiume said when the mother to the victim returned from the funeral, she observed that her daughter the now victim was limping and that made her to become suspicious that something bad might have happened to her.

He said when she interrogated her in presence of her aunt, the victim disclosed to them that on January 19, the day the mother left for a funeral, her biological father had carnal knowledge of her.
“They further checked her physically and observed something strange on her private parts. They later decided to report the matter to Chinsali Police Station,” Mr Achiume said.
He said police made a follow-up and picked up the victim and the suspect and took them to Chinsali Police Station and issued a medical report form to the victim, Mr Achiume said the suspect has been arrested and detained in police custody.
