The country has to have access to mealie meal, according to President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA, who has asked millers to make it happen.
According to President HICHILEMA, it is regrettable that the nation has continued to face a mealie meal shortfall, which has been brought on by smuggling among other things.
However, he claims that in order to prevent similar occurrences in the future, the nation needs to expand the production of maize and mealie meal.
The President made this remark while meeting with millers from the Copperbelt, Lusaka, Southern, and Eastern Provinces, who were headed by Andrew Chintala, president of the Millers Association of Zambia.
Even though mealie meal is a heritage issue, according to President HICHILEMA, the nation needs to depoliticize the issue.
Additionally, Mr. CHINTALA gave the government his word that millers would make sure mealie meal was available in the neighborhood.
