Mining Licenses Will Be Issued By Cadastre Dept

By the end of March 2023, the Mining Cadastre Department will begin issuing new mining permits.

Almost 1,800 persons have requested licenses, according to SAMUEL MAANGO, director of the cadastre department.

According to Mr. MAANGO, the application validation procedure would begin the following week.

He claims that after the Department’s launch in November 2022, applications started to come in.

After allegations of corruption in the issuance of mining licenses, the Department was shut down at the beginning of last year.

In the meantime, Mr. MAANGO informed ZNBC News in an interview that a conference will be held on Wednesday to evaluate the responses from the more than 500 holders of defaulting licenses who received default notifications.

According to him, suggestions on whether or not to revoke mining licenses would be given to the mining licensing committee after the meeting.
