Mobile Money Agent, 17, Abducted

A 17-year-old girl mobile money agent from Kitwe’s Kamitondo township has been kidnapped by recognized individuals, who claim she owes money to a prior employer.

Her former employer, who kidnapped AGNESS TINDWA, is demanding 20,000 Kwacha in exchange for her return.

On December 8, 2022, AGNESS claimed she was heading to work when she left her house at around 8:00 a.m., but she never came back.

The mother of the kidnapped woman, LOVENESS MWABA, claims that on December 12, 2022, at around 06:30, the family received a phone call from a man who claimed to be Ms. TINDWA’s captor and then demanded payment.

AGNESS was given permission to speak to the mother, according to Copperbelt Province Commanding Officer PEACEWELL MWEEMBA, who also revealed that the mother was being held at an unidentified location in Solwezi, North-Western Province.

Although an arrest has not yet been made, a docket of kidnapping has been opened.

A 14-year-old child who was allegedly beaten with a slasher by his father died in Kalulushi, on the Copperbelt, in the meantime.

50-year-old ERNEST CHIPEMA, of the Makeni area, is thought to have assaulted his son after the boy allegedly stole 200 Kwacha.

After the beating, the boy developed a swelling on his head, according to the Copperbelt Province Commanding Officer. He was taken by ambulance to Kalulushi General Hospital, where he later passed away.
