PPE Is Required By The Union To Control Army Worms

The government has received praise from the Agricultural Technical and Professional Staff Union of Zambia (APSTUZ) for its prompt response to the army worm issue in maize fields.

The government’s quick acquisition of pesticides to combat army worms, according to APSTUZ General Secretary Jestone Ponde, will aid in maintaining food security for the nation.

However, Mr. PONDE informed ZNBC news that extension officers’ lack of safety gear might make spraying ineffective.

Since then, he has lobbied the government to give officers handling chemicals personal safety equipment.
