Putting To Rest Bangweulu Accident Victims

Today, the 14 people who died in the boat tragedy on Lake Bangweulu on Friday in the Chilubi District of Northern Province, will be laid to rest.
Chilubi Island will serve as the site of burial.

Hundreds of people, including members of the Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) Church, have gathered at the general hospital in Mansa, Luapula province, according to LILLIAN KALABA of ZNBC.

To be interred at Kashitu cemetery, the bodies will be transported from Mansa to Chiludi Island.

The group will travel to Chilubi with MIGHTY MUMBA, the permanent secretary of the Luapula Province.

The 14 will be interred at a location known as KASHITU, according to Chilubi District Commissioner RISTO MUSHEMBE.

In addition to being transferred to SAMFYA, six of the dead were also brought to Chilubi for burial.

To provide a guard of honor for the departed, hundreds of SDA teenagers have assembled in a special march at Mansa Airport.

The SDA youngsters on the overcrowded boat that capsized on Lake Bangweulu due to heavy winds included the 14 people who died.
