Ntsiki Mazwai drags Thuli Phongolo and DJ Maphorisa

Tweeps were set on fire after learning that popular musician DJ Maphorisa was arrested for assaulting his girlfriend Thuli Phongolo. On Monday morning last week, the producer was released on R4000 bail despite Thuli dropping the charges against him.

The pair then shared a joint statement asking the public to allow them to handle the matter privately. And now human rights activists Ntsiki Mazwai has slammed the couple for “undermining genuine cases”

Many seemingly agreed with Ntsiki Mazwai and have shared their thoughts on the Thuli P and Maphorisa saga.

“The matter has received mixed public attention, causing a great deal of emotional stress on both parties involved. It is on this basis that the parties have elected to resolve this matter privately through their respective management and legal teams.”

“Consequently, Phongolo has since withdrawn the charges laid against Sekowe,” reads the statement that was issued by local actress Thuli Phongolo and DJ Maphorisa on Monday this week.

The statement has been slammed by hundreds of social media users who think Thuli is setting a bad example when it comes to gender-based violence.

And now poet and entrepreneur Ntsiki Mazwai has joined in on slamming Thuli and Maphorisa.

According to her, couples need their own courts to deal with these kinds of matters because “they don’t mind being in the back-and-forth abusive relationships.”

“It completely undermines genuine cases because clearly, you guys don’t mind being in the back-and-forth abusive relationships, but it actually does matter in society. So I believe that couple needs their own systems because I’m tired of these celebrity girls dropping charges,” she says in the now viral video.

People seemingly agree with Ntsiki and have shared their thoughts in her comment section.

“It’s so annoying and a waste of time bakithi,” wrote one app user.
