Working at Half Capacity: Kalene Fruit Processing Plant

Despite being put into operation five months ago, the North Western Chamber of Commerce and Industry is concerned that the Kalene Hills Fruit Processing factory in the Mwinilunga District is not running at full capacity.

The fruit processing plant was designed to increase agrobusiness in the district, according to Chamber President MUKUMBI KAFUTA, and its inability to operate is depriving farmers of income.

Mr. KAFUTA claims that farmers are waiting to reap the rewards of having a multipurpose fruit processing plant, which is intended to boost the agricultural industry, in an interview with ZNBC News in Solwezi.

The Kalene Hills Fruit Processing Plant in Mwinilunga District was formally inaugurated by President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA last year.
